Boundless:
Upgrade Your Brain, Optimize Your Body and Defy Aging
(Victory Belt)
A huge book about everything between the top of your head and the tip of your toes.
Author: Ben Greenfield
Genre: Health and Fitness
Reader Appeal: Teens and Adults
Last year I set a goal to run a half marathon. This year I’ve set a goal to marathon all the James Bond movies in order. If I’d had Ben Greenfield’s Boundless before I ran, I would’ve run faster. If I’d read Greenfield’s book with my Bond movie goal in mind, I’d be able to watch more than one a week—but I don’t think Ben had that in mind.
Before going any further: Do not follow any new advice about health and fitness before checking with your doctor. Now, back to Boundless …
There’s a lot of advice in this book, from diets to sleep, from stress to sex. If it happens in or around your body, it’s included in here. Greenfield has laid out everything in a super-organized way (which I expect from someone who has upgraded their brain). Each chapter has a reason why you want to be an almost perfect specimen, nearly a dozen different methods of how to get there, and some actionable steps you can take that week. Teens and adults both will find surprising, doable ideas to move them toward greater health and fitness.
Boundless is written primarily for men, so there were a few things that I couldn’t relate to. Still, there were many things (like reading a book about a complex topic, and getting out in the sun more)—that I found very helpful for everyone, myself included. Boundless will be my go-to book if I ever decide to do a keto diet, or run a full marathon, or boost my brainpower.
But for now I’ve got a date with Bond, James Bond...
